Job description

The CSR Compliance Officer will coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and compliance programs within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The role ensures the organisation adheres to UK regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and sustainability goals while promoting a culture of responsible manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

CSR Strategy and Support

  • Assist with delivery of CSR strategies aligned with the company’s mission and objectives.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and execute sustainability initiatives, such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and ethical sourcing.

  • Engage with suppliers to ensure ethical practices across the supply chain, including compliance with Modern Slavery Act requirements.

  • Hold responsibility for response to customer supplier form completion for CSR

Regulatory Compliance

  • Monitor compliance with relevant UK and EU laws, including food safety standards, environmental regulations, and employment laws.

  • Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to ensure adherence to regulatory and ethical standards.

  • Stay updated on changes to UK legislation and industry standards affecting CSR and compliance.

Reporting and Metrics

  • Prepare and present regular reports on CSR activities, compliance audits, and sustainability performance metrics for senior management and external stakeholders.

  • Measure and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to environmental, and governance objectives.

  • Be responsible for obtaining and reporting on CO2 and Waste for the UK

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and community groups.

Represent the company in industry forums and sustainability networks

Key Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven experience in CSR, compliance, or sustainability roles, ideally in the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.

  • Strong knowledge of UK compliance regulations, such as food safety standards, environmental legislation.

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.

  • Analytical skills to assess and report on CSR and compliance performance metrics.

Desirable, but not essential 

  • Degree in Sustainability, Business Management, Environmental Science, or a related field or equal experience in area

  • Familiarity with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and certifications like BRCGS.

  • Understanding of environmental impact assessments and carbon footprint analysis.
